Challenge

Create a light and appealing design for an institutional spa, which fits into the surrounding hillside landscape

Solution

• Combine materials in an interesting way to lighten the effect of the required masonry surrounding the commercial spa
• Design with materials contrasting lightness and strength – a light and airy wooden deck that floats over the oak woodland landscape with a contrasting solid stone wall to anchor the spa environment

Special Feature 

• The monolithic wall houses necessary accessories for the spa, such as a shower and other furnishings, allowing for a clean and modern space
• Glass railing allows guests to see the view while seated in the spa
